A new digital service will allow relatives of patients to receive real‑time information about their health status and treatment progress. The pilot project starts in Astana and Almaty region as part of healthcare reform.
The initiative was announced after a parliamentary request by Senator Zhanna Asanova, who noted that families often cannot obtain even basic updates during emergency hospitalization, transfer to intensive care, or surgery.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stated that the Ministry of Health, together with medical system developers, is working on a centralized information service. It will provide unified notifications about hospitalization status: admission, transfer to ICU, surgery, or relocation.
Access will require identity verification and confirmation of the applicant’s right to receive information through state systems and digital identification.
The platform will integrate with medical information systems, ensuring legality and transparency of data transfer. Unified standards of communication between medical organizations and relatives will be developed to reduce workload on doctors and minimize conflicts.
If successful, the pilot will be scaled nationwide and later connected to the Qalqan digital platform, designed as a technological shield for the national health insurance system.
