The UN General Assembly has unanimously supported Kazakhstan's initiative to establish a regional center for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to Presidential Press Secretary Ruslan Zheldybay, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to all partner states for supporting Kazakhstan’s initiative.

The President emphasized that the UN Regional SDG Hub will serve as an essential platform for coordinating international efforts in the region.

Eurasian Digital Foundation (EDF) also contributes to the implementation of SDG Goals 16 and 17 through its projects.

Having received UN accreditation several years ago, EDF annually hosts the National Forum on Internet Governance, Qazaqstan IGF, providing a platform for discussions among key stakeholders, including the government, businesses, IT sector, civil society, and academia.

Each Qazaqstan IGF forum brings together experts who offer numerous recommendations that contribute to the country’s sustainable development.

The Regional SDG Center for Central Asia and Afghanistan will focus on coordinating UN agencies with regional governments to advance the 2030 Agenda, including poverty reduction, environmental protection, and ensuring equal opportunities.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov discussed the project with FAO Representative Viorel Gutu, emphasizing that this initiative reflects global trust in Kazakhstan and signifies a great responsibility for the country.
