The official opening of the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia and Afghanistan took place in Almaty.

This Sunday, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres took part in the signing ceremony of the Agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the UN.

According to the President, the center will not duplicate the work of other organizations, but will focus on the real needs of the region.

The President also emphasized at the meeting that Kazakhstan considers the Sustainable Development Goals as a priority of its national strategy.

“Our goal is to build a truly Just state in which human rights are ensured and high environmental standards are observed,” he noted.

The Eurasian Digital Foundation, in turn, actively contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (goals No. 16 and 17) by holding the annual National Internet Governance Forum Qazaqstan IGF.

After receiving the relevant UN accreditation, we annually organize Qazaqstan IGF, providing an inclusive platform for dialogue between government agencies, business, the IT community, civil society and the academic environment.

Each Forum is accompanied by the development of practical and relevant recommendations from speakers aimed at strengthening the sustainable development of the country and society as a whole.
