President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law “On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues of education, mentoring and child safety.”
The document provides for free access to grades and homework, installation of locks on windows, restriction of the use of mobile phones during lessons, and a ban on the construction of multi-storey buildings without the provision of schools and clinics.
Article 49 “Rights and responsibilities of parents and other legal representatives” of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education” was supplemented with a new norm, according to which parents and legal representatives receive the right:
“...to monitor children’s use of a cellular communication device, as well as children’s visits to Internet resources that post information harmful to their health and development.”
Earlier, Mazhilis deputy Askhat Aimagambetov explained that the norm concerns only restrictions during classes, and a child can bring a mobile phone to school, using it during breaks.
