The use of these chips is planned in the process of creating a supercomputer and a data center within the framework of the AI Development Concept for 2024-2029.

“In general, the US Government is systematically tightening measures for the export of AI technology. These restrictions do not apply only to Kazakhstan, but are applicable to all other countries. Currently, Kazakhstan is in the process of obtaining an export license for the supply of Nvidia chips,” the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan reported.

The creation of the supercomputer includes three stages. The first, according to information from the MCRIAP, is already underway.

“We are purchasing chips, for this purpose we have created joint ventures between JSC NWF Samruk-Kazyna and the G42 enterprise, which will launch the supercomputer this year,” said Kanysh Tuleushin, Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The third stage involves the construction of a data center with a supercomputer. The project is financed by the United Arab Emirates. Kazakhstan provides land and electricity.

Earlier, an agreement was signed with NVIDIA to launch educational programs on AI in educational institutions of Kazakhstan as part of the Deep Learning Institute program. It is also planned to localize educational content into the Kazakh language.

In addition, it is planned to hold hackathons and bootcamps on artificial intelligence in order to identify and support talented young specialists in this field.

“These events will help develop digital skills among young people and strengthen Kazakhstan's position as an innovation center in the region,” the ministry said.
