We are talking about the Neo Nomad and Digital Nomad Visas, which are intended for the so-called "modern nomads" - foreign tourists who combine remote work and leisure.

Neo Nomad will allow a foreigner to stay in Kazakhstan for up to 1 year. The intention to introduce it became known in May of this year.

To obtain such a visa, a citizen must demonstrate a stable income of at least 3 thousand dollars outside of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition, foreign applicants will need medical insurance and a certificate of no criminal record.

The visa is aimed at tourists working remotely in various fields, from programming, marketing and finance to consulting, design and e-commerce.

Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) is intended for IT specialists. The MCRIAP clarified that the DNV program is aimed at attracting international specialists and developing the digital economy of Kazakhstan:

“This visa gives professionals from all over the world the opportunity to live and work in Kazakhstan, using modern digital services and a high level of comfort. Digital Nomad Visa is aimed at IT specialists, offering Kazakhstan as a convenient hub for remote work. The program attracts professionals for whom access to high-speed Internet, advanced digital services and ease of doing business are important.”

The Ministry of Digital Development also listed the advantages of the Digital Nomad Visa:

  • flexible visa regime - simplified procedures for applying and extending a visa;
  • access to 5G and satellite communications - stable connection throughout the country;
  • integration with local culture - support in adaptation, finding housing and professional connections;
  • state support - simplification of doing business and participation in innovative projects.

“Digital Nomad Visa is an important step towards turning Kazakhstan into an international hub for digital nomads. The program provides comfortable working conditions and a high standard of living, which contributes to the development of innovative ecosystems and the exchange of experience with professionals from around the world,” said Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev.

It is reported that the Digital Nomad Visa program is already available and provides unique opportunities for working and living in Kazakhstan.
