“We have developed a corresponding technical specification for software using AI. It is planned to create a unified situational center for early detection of fires, rapid decision-making and monitoring of the country’s forests by grouping data from various sources,” said Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Erlan Nysanbaev.

The project for early detection of forest fires through the introduction of digitalization in forestry has already been approved by the presidential commission.

According to the official, fires are detected by special surveillance cameras with a radius of up to 30 kilometers.

It also became known that last year this system was already implemented in the Ertis Ormany Nature Reserve and the Kokshetau National Park. There is an analogue of this system in the Burabay National Park and the Medeu Natural Park.

According to the minister, the system introduced in the Burabay National Park has already shown its effectiveness - previously the average area of forest fires was 80 hectares, but after the introduction of artificial intelligence it decreased to 1.5 hectares.
